New Directions for Marketing: Interactions and Partnerships

Higher School of Economics hosted Interntational Conference entitled 'New Directions for Marketing: Interactions and Partnerships'. The Conference has been a landmark event for the NoE, with research results presented in 40+ papers. More than 100 researchers and PhD and graduate students from Russia, Sweden, Denmark and UK, as well as Russian marketing journals' editors, gathered together to discuss scientific achievements.
The Conference started with a plenary, where HSE's vice-provost for education programmes Sergey Yu. Roschin and Faculty of Management Dean Azer G. Efendiev welcomed participants. Then followed welcome presentations by 'fathers and mothers' of marketing thought in Russia, including Boris A. Soloviev from Plekhanov Russian Economic Academy, Olga A. Tretyak and Igor V. Lipsitz, HSE, and by practitioners, including Russian Marketing Association's Chair Alexander A. Braverman and Amway Europe's Director Jan Stransky.
The main body of research were presented in two tracks under two titles: 'Marketing: interactions and partnerships' and 'Marketing theory and practice: development prospects'. Of particular interest were presentations by Marina Yu. Sheresheva, HSE, on new classification framework for interfirm networks, by Veronika Tarnovskaya (Lund Univ., Sweden) and Pervez Ghauri (Manchester business school) on IKEA's supply network strategy, and Julia F. Popova (Syktyvkar State Univ.) on chained interirm relationships in Russian food industry. Finally, the concluding roundtable was dedicated to discuss NoE's joint plans and research projects for the year 2008.
